Holidays with the dog

March 28, 2020

“We want to join you….!”

An important reason for booking holiday apartments and holiday homes is often the dog, which of course must not be missing even on holiday. Unfortunately, only an average of 25-30 % of the villas offered on the net can be booked with a dog.

In this respect, you are exactly right with us if you are looking for a nice apartment or villa for your holiday with your dog. About 80 % of the villas and apartments in our portfolio can be rented with one or two dogs.

France – the dog country

France is considered to be the most dog-rich country in Europe with about 30-40 % of all households – by comparison: Germany is about appr. 15 %. Therefore, France is generally a very dog-friendly country and an ideal holiday destination, as you can reach your destination quite comfortably – also for the four-legged friend – by car and for the dog extremely stressful air travel is not necessary.

Entry requirements are demanding a pet passport and a microchip. If your dog is tattooed, this will of course also be recognized. In addition, a current rabies vaccination is required.

The supermarkets offer a wide range of dog food and in addition you will find large “garden centers” with pet departments.

Taking the dog to the restaurant is usually not a problem and usually also the well-being of the “dog guest” is thought of and quickly offered a water bowl or a treat. However, it should be borne in mind that – especially on the Cote d’Azur – many restaurants are very cramped and larger dogs therefore often have only limited berths.

With the dog on the beach

Not all beaches are approved for dogs, although this is of course also dependent on the holiday region. An overview of specially designated dog beaches in the Var can be found via the following link: http://www.plages.tv/chiens/liste-var

However, dogs are also tolerated on most other beach sections, such as the Pampelonne beaches, whereby they are of course to be led on a leash during the months of high season. In the low- or winter season you can enjoy a wonderfully relaxing beach walk without a leash.

In summary, the Gulf of St. Tropez and our selection of villas and apartments offer all the prerequisites for a relaxing holiday with your dog.
